“Hacking” Your Productivity Is Dangerous To Your Health

by John McIntyre

The first wealth is health.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today, I was going to tell you how I’m implementing the three ways to exponential growth in my business.

But I’ll get to that in a few days…

I have a better idea –

Exponential growth for people who
get shit done without arguing.

It ain’t sexy.

It doesn’t make for a good story.

And chances are, when I tell you what it is… you’ll roll your eyes at me.

But you’d be making a grave mistake if you did that.

Why?

Because unless you’re a superhuman machine of discipline and willpower, you’ll have some areas of improvement.

Plus, getting this area RIGHT could
transform not just your business and
email marketing, but your life too.

Let’s get into it.

I have a friend named Roger (not his real name).

Roger is overweight, eats like shit and doesn’t exercise.

Roger is an entrepreneur and much like you and me, he’s obsessed with productivity.

How does he opt to “enhance” his productivity?

Instead of solving the obvious problems of his obesity and sedentary lifestyle, Roger spends time researching “smart drugs” and other life hacks with the goal of making himself more productive.

Problem is, I’ll bet a million bucks that he’d produce exponentially more if he ate healthy food and lifted heavy weights a few times a week.

But like I said… eating healthy food and exercising isn’t sexy.

It takes WORK.

You can’t outsource your health.

You can’t “hack” it (for the most part).

You simply MUST eat good food, avoid bad food and exercise regularly.

It’s THAT simple.

UNsexy habits and behaviours like this are what create most of your “health results”.

Once you’ve nailed the fundamentals like a good diet and regular exercise, then you can start optimizing.

I’ll leave you with this –

Are you looking for “productivity hacks”
before solving problems like your
own obesity and lack of fitness?

(If you’re a healthy, strong fighting machine, respect. Keep it up.)

P.S. Here are 5 simple things I do every day to get exponentially more from my body and mind.

Treat this as inspiration.

I don’t believe there is a perfect way to do things.

Simply try stuff. See what works. Iterate.

Sooner or later, you’ll have the recipe that makes YOU superhuman.

Without further ado –

[+] I eat a fairly strict keto diet (My diet is 90% eggs, meat and green veggies, with a small amount of fruit. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t smoke and I don’t eat processed carbs like bread, muffins, rice and so on. I don’t even eat potatoes.).

[+] I meditate daily (3 years ago, I struggled to meditate for 10 mins. These days, I usually meditate for 20-60 mins). This produces some incredible benefits… including monk-like peace, laser-like focus while working and – surprisingly – WAY more energy.

[+] I exercise 3-6x per week (I’m currently doing a combination of lifting weights and metabolic conditioning works. I prefer high-intensity to casual walks through the neighborhood. I like to walk, but it’s about relaxation, not fitness.).

[+] I have 10 cards with 10 different goals that I carry with me everywhere I go (every morning, I spend 30 mins visualizing those goals, with the aim of creating the emotion that I’m already there – experiencing it. After those sessions, I go into my day with the winner’s mindset. That is – the mindset where I KNOW I will dominate, simple as that.)

[+] I use the Getting Things Done system (aka. “GTD”) to get shit done. I could tell you exactly what I’m doing every day for the next 7 days. I plan out every week in advance, based on this month’s goals, which are based on this year’s goal’s.

That’s it – 5 things you can do TODAY to get be exponentially more productive.

  1. I’m constantly amazed that people don’t even think about their brain (until it’s not working right). Your brain is just another organ – albeit probably one of your favorites. It needs the same things your body needs – nutrition, hydration, exercise, sleep, stimulation, and relaxation. Sounds like you’re doing an excellent program here, John.

I’ve done extensive research on supplements for the brain and “smart drugs”. I’ve found most brain supplements to be rip offs and can even do you harm. Many have class action suits against them. I hope you don’t mind my leaving a link to an article I’ve written about this: https://bebrainfit.com/brain-supplements-answer-mental-decline/

  2. Great email / blog John, thanks. I started eating “primally” (ie Primal Blueprint) 8 weeks ago, and started “Pomodoros” (my version is 50 min work, 10 min break, 50 min work, 30 min break) and doing dumb-bell and bodyweight exercises in the breaks. I cannot tell you how much better shape I am in, and how much more productive I am! Highly recommended.
